Description

Chuck Jones - Bugs Bunny & Elmer Fudd Original Drawing with Limited Edition 1-of-1 Cel (Chuck Jones, c. 2003). "Just a professional courtesy to a valued customer, Doc!" Bugs Bunny seems to lend a helping hand to Elmer Fudd, as the mischievous rabbit stands in front of the hunter's gun with a gaudy target painted on his abdomen. This is doubtless another one of the rabbit's tricks, as he has a long history of staying one step ahead of the bumbling Fudd. This piece is really something special. It's not every day that you get the chance to own an original drawing by animation legend Chuck Jones that depicts one of the most iconic rivalries in Warner Brothers animation! Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) started his animation career in 1933 at the Warner Brothers studio known as "Termite Terrace," alongside other incredible players in animation such as Tex Avery, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, and Robert McKimson. Jones started at the bottom as a cel washer, but his talent and his knack for humor and character development led to his rise through the ranks of the studio. During his long and illustrious career, Jones was nominated for nine Academy Awards, winning three, and he also received a Lifetime Achievement Award, a Golden Plate Award, an Inkpot Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Smithsonian Medal of Achievement, four honorary doctorates, the Chevalier des Arts et Lettres Award, and more. Three of Jones's films were inducted into the Library of Congress's National Film Registry. The immense influence that Chuck Jones had - and continues to have today - on animation as both an art form and an industry is unbelievable. This drawing by Jones features fantastic full-figure images of Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, and it is signed by Jones himself in the lower left corner. The drawing is rendered in expressive strokes with graphite on paper, and the image fills the entire page. This rare piece is complemented by a hand-painted, hand-inked One of One cel that was created directly from Jones's drawing and captures the essence of the characters wonderfully. The cel is displayed atop a color print background for presentation, and it is also signed in its lower left corner by Jones. The two exceptional pieces are matted and framed with Plexiglas together, with each having a matboard aperture of 12" x 10" and the frame measuring 21.5" x 32". Also included is a Linda Jones Certificate of Authenticity. The drawing is in Very Good condition, with very minor handling. The cel is in Fine condition, and the frame is sold as-is.
