Description

Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse Cartoon Scene/Sequence Draft (Walt Disney, c. 1928). Offered in this lot is a particularly coveted artifact: a rare studio copy of the final draft of the scene/sequence plan for the landmark animated theatrical short Steamboat Willie, printed on four sheets of official M-92 studio form paper. Notable for being one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound, as well as one of the first cartoons to feature a fully post-produced soundtrack, Steamboat Willie is considered to be the debut of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (although both first appeared in a test screening of Plane Crazy a few months previous). This is a major piece of Walt Disney history, and as such, one of the most important documents in animation history. It is possible that these sheets were printed very shortly after the production of the film. Consisting of four pages stapled together in the upper left corner, this sequence draft shows minor handling and edge wear with light age-related toning, and the condition of this Holy Grail item is Very Good.
