Description

David Mack - Original Cover Art for Happy the Clown #2 (Caliber Press, circa 1993). David Mack earned a full scholarship to Northern Kentucky University for five years. He studied multiple disciplines in art and academics, including World History, Anatomy and Physiology, and Japanese. He graduated with his BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in English. Best known for his writing and cover art for Daredevil, as well as his own Kabuki series, Mack is a truly distinctive talent. This early, important cover by Mack, demonstrates the artistic elements for which he is renowned: delicate inkwork, and dramatic composition, leavened with a touch of dark humor. "Happy" is Lenny, a "slow" loner, brought back into a career he thought he had left behind, as a hired assassin for the Covert Intelligence Division. His specialty: turning any object into a deadly weapon. Code named Happy the Clown, Lenny finds himself trapped, pursued by all. The overall size of the art is 11" x 17". It is in excellent condition, and a copy of the Happy The Clown #2 comic book is included in this lot.
