Surprise Book #1-12 Bound Volume (Dell, 1950). Dell's Surprise Book series, designed for young readers, featured an odd-sized (approximately 7" x 5.25") booklet combining comic style graphics with storybook text, printed on standard newsprint with card covers. Here's a bound volume from the Dell office library, featuring all twelve issues: Little Black Sambo; Strange Happenings at the Zoo; Little Red Riding Hood; If I Were a Cowboy; The Emperor's New Clothes; The Three Bears; Peter Rabbit; Clementina, the Flying Pig; Sleeping Beauty; Teddy B. B.; Piggy, Piggy; and Alice in Wonderland. All issues have been trimmed during the binding process, but are otherwise appear Fine or better. The green cloth binding shows some wear, and the gilt lettering on the spine is worn. An unusual and rare item! Not listed in Overstreet.
