Description

Stan Lynde Rick O'Shay Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-17-59 (Chicago Tribune-N.Y. News Syndicate, 1959). Lynde had conceived Rick O'Shay as a spoof of the TV-Western programs that were all the rage during the late 1950s. He soon developed more novelistic ambitions, however, and began to introduce elements of conflict in addition to the funny business. Here, novice gunslinger Lily the Kid pursues a rivalry with sharpshooter Hipshot Percussion, ending in a (literal) punchline. The gag is tied to St. Patrick's Day.) Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 15.5" x 5". Light toning. Excellent condition.
