Description

Ed Dodd Back Home Again Daily Single-Panel Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-21-38 (United Feature Syndicate, 1938). Dodd's native-Southerner background made him a natural to develop this affectionately caricatured feature, titled "Doodlebug", which pre-dated his more famous nature strip, Mark Trail, by 16 years. There is a patent influence here from senior cartoonist J.R. "Jim" Williams, whose Out Our Way feature had established a Gold Standard for rural humor. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 12", matted and framed to 16.5" x 16.5". Excellent condition.
