Virgil Ross - Sam Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Sam and Ralph are both hard at work, doing their everyday job in this original Virgil Ross drawing. It was inspired by the Chuck Jones series of six cartoon shorts that began with Don't Give Up the Sheep (1953). The pair were even featured during the final scene of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) was for many years one of the lead animators at Warner Brothers. His long, distinguished career also included stints with Walter Lantz (in the 1930s), Filmation (Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, The Archie Show, Star Trek: The Animated Series), DePatie-Freleng (The All-New Pink Panther Show, The Fantastic Four), Hanna-Barbera (The Flintstones, The Smurfs), and more. In 1988, Mr. Ross was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award. This original signed drawing is matted with an opening of 11.5" x 8.5", and framed with glass for an overall size of 15" x 12". Art condition is Fine.
