Description
The Hillbilly Bears Maw Rugg Production Cel and Master Background (Hanna-Barbera, c.1960s). A terrific image of Maw Rugg from The Hillbilly Bears. Maw Rugg is hand-painted on 12 field acetate and paired with a Master background from the series. The background was rendered in gouache on background board. The Hillbilly Bears aired as a segment of The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show for two seasons, from 1965 to 1967. The series played on a social stereotype of the "hillbilly" with a mumbling father Paw Rugg who was always "feuding" with the neighbors. Usually a passive activity in which the feuding families fired the same bullet back and forth from the comfort of their rocking chairs. Maw, voiced by Jean Vander Pyl, was more levelheaded than Paw, who is prone to wacky misadventures. Maw measures 3.5" in this piece. Mild handling and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.Auction Info
