Warren Tufts Casey Ruggles Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-31-54 (United Feature Syndicate, 1954). A large-scale installment from one of the best Western-adventure features ever produced. Tufts was on the verge of abandoning his creation as the result of a disagreement with the syndicate -- but the strip retained a vibrancy to the end of his run. (Without Tufts in charge, the popular appeal faded, and Casey Ruggles ended shortly thereafter.) Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 23" x 15".
