Description

Paul Gulacy and Pablo Marcos Master of Kung Fu #40 Story Page 16 Original Art (Marvel Comics, 1976). Shang-Chi, the title character, aligns with crusty Black Jack Tarr to battle a gigantic scorpion. Marvel's masterstroke here was to transform a trend-chasing concept -- inspired by the American popularity of Hong Kong's martial-arts movies -- into a full-fledged sequel to Sax Rohmer's classic Fu Manchu novels. The long-running result was Marvel's most stylishly designed book since Jim Starlin's run on Nick Fury. Gulacy's mannered composition blends perfectly with Marcos' full-bodied inking. The Bristol board piece measures 10" x 15". Marginal editorial notes enhance the character of the piece. Excellent condition.
