Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White Production Cel on Master Production Background (Walt Disney, 1937). "Run! Runaway, hide, anywhere, never come back, go, go go, go, hide!" says the Huntsman to Snow White upon realizing he can't bring himself to kill her. This scene is one of the most terrifying in the film. Author J.B. Kaufman writes in his the book Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - The Art and Creation of Walt Disney's Classic Animated Film "Invited to create expressionist imagery for Snow White's flight into the forest, the studio concept artists rose to the challenge with wildly evocation sketches and paintings." Gustaf Tenggren's trees with the angry faces was an idea that Walt Disney initially rejected. He eventually relented and backgrounds of this nature made the film. This original hand-painted production background was based on a Tenggren concept piece. Backgrounds artists on this film included Samuel Armstrong, Mique Nelson, Merle Cox, Claude Coats, Phil Dike, Ray Lockrem, and Maurice Noble. The background is trimmed to 11.5" x 29" and has an original production cel of Snow White on it to complete a true Master setup. The character measures 6" tall, has been trimmed to the image and is mounted to a cover cel. It's the first production piece we have ever offered from this scene. This magnificent Master setup from Disney's first animated feature is in a frame of 41" x 24" with a mat opening of 29" x 12". Condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
