Three Little Pigs Fifer Pig Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1933). "I toot my flute and I don't give a hoot!" The film proved to be enormously popular with moviegoers; its hopeful message and jaunty theme song ("Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?") were just what the American public needed, having been collectively clobbered by the Great Depression. The Big Bad Wolf represented so much more to audiences than simply a fairy tale villain. In addition to its financial success, the film also earned an Oscar for the Best Animated Short Film of 1933. The film became so culturally significant, that it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Directed by Burt Gillet, and released on May 27, 1933, the film was an instant smash hit - and spawned numerous sequels featuring its stars. This adorable animation drawing is taken from the opening shot of this landmark film and can be seen at the 35 second point. Fifer Pig sings to the audience about his carefree approach toward life - and that he has built his house shoddily and quickly - so that he can spend his time dancing and playing on his flute. Fifer Pig is 3" high and rendered in graphite. The drawing is matted and framed under Plexiglass, with a mat opening of 5" x 5.5" in a 14" x 15" frame. Frame sold as-is. Drawing is in Fine condition.
