Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Gas House Gorilla Drawings Group of 2 Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s) Baseball Bugs, directed by Friz Freleng and released in 1946, featured a baseball team of brutish Gas-House Gorillas who battle a one-rabbit opponent - Bugs Bunny! Legendary animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) was one of the animators on this cartoon, and in this group of two drawings by Mr. Ross he recreates images of Bugs and the Gorillas in action. Virgil Ross was a long-time Warner Brothers animator who worked in the Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng Units. He was famous for his action and dance sequences, as well as his facial expressions. He worked on three Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations -- Tweety Pie, Birds Anonymous and Knighty Knight Bugs. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of progressions of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. He began making personal appearances where he created one-of-a-kind drawings of the Looney Tunes characters as well as other cartoons he worked on for other studios. These two signed drawings are on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper. Five images of Bugs Bunny measure 4.5" - 6.5", and four images of the Gas-House Gorillas are 4" - 8". Images are graphite with blue pencil underdrawing. Fine condition
