Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Daredevil #159 Bullseye Story Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1979). The very first time Frank Miller ever drew Bullseye! Miller had only just begun his now-legendary Daredevil run the previous issue, but it's here that he brings the lethal assassin onto the page for the first time. Bullseye appears only briefly in the issue, framed by this prologue opener and the closing epilogue, yet the impact is immediate. In four hard-hitting panels, the Man Without Fear is shot by Bullseye and still manages to overcome him, a brutal recap of the events of Daredevil #146, now filtered through Miller and Klaus Janson's gritty lens. Original Miller/Janson pages from this era almost never surface, and the last example we offered from this issue was two decades ago. Their work transformed Daredevil from a middling hero into a darker, more compelling figure whose influence still echoes today in the comics and acclaimed television series. A truly monumental page for serious Miller collectors. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15" (including stat header and indicia paste-ups). Light toning, with smudging/soiling, discolored screentone, slightly discolored text paste-ups, production oil and glue residue staining, production-trimmed edges/corner, blue pencil editorial marks, and minor handing wear. Signed by Frank Miller in the final panel and in Very Good condition.
