The fourth entry in the Mana series, following 1995's Trials of Mana, the game offered a fresh evolution of the action RPG formula. While maintaining the series' signature real-time combat, it introduced the innovative "Land Make" system, which allowed players to shape the world by placing regions and unlocking quests in a uniquely non-linear progression. Directed by series creator Koichi Ishii, designed by Akihiko Matsui, and produced by Akitoshi Kawazu, Legend of Mana was celebrated for its lush hand-drawn visuals and Yoko Shimomura's enchanting score. It inspired the 2022 anime adaptation, Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal.
