Description

X-Men #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages. This landmark debut issue features the origin and first appearance of the X-Men (the Angel, the Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl), as well as the first appearances of Professor X and Magneto, with an iconic cover and interior art by Jack Kirby. It launched one of Marvel's most lucrative trademarks, one that has generated dozens of popular characters, spawned countless spin-off titles, and generated toys, animated series, features films, and more during the past five decades. Ironically, sales of the comic initially lagged so far behind other Marvel titles that it went into reprints for a few years before being revived with a new cast of characters in the 1970s. This gorgeous high-grade copy boasts great page condition as well. Overstreet 2013 NM- 9.2 value = $40,000. CGC census 7/13: 13 in 9.4, 5 higher. From the Dennis Anastasis Collection.
