Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #2 Batman Page 6 Original Art (DC, 1986). Few stories in the Batman mythos are as important as Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Comic book legend Frank Miller sought to create a fitting "end" for the character of Batman -- just as the Norse myths had their Ragnarok, so would Batman eventually meet his demise. Many consider it the greatest Batman story ever told. Released in 1986, this epic was responsible for the rejuvenation of Batman as a dark character, and for the comics industry as a whole. When pages from this saga surface, they always command a premium price -- as demonstrated by the TDKR #2 cover that we offered in August 2013 -- it hammered for the second-highest total ever for a lot in our comic art auctions -- close to a half-million dollars. This iconic silhouette Batman scene, from the very same issue, "The Dark Knight Triumphant," spotlights the timeless graphic appeal of the Cowled Crusader. It has an image area of 11.75" x 17.75", and it's in Excellent condition. Signed by inker Klaus Janson in its lower left margin corner.

Miller, Frank:Frank Miller (American, b. 1957): is a multi-talented cartoonist, writer, and film director, most celebrated for his work on the Marvel characters Daredevil, Elektra, and Wolverine, as well as on his own characters for the Dark Horse titles Hard Boiled, 300, and Sin City. In the late eighties, Miler became the first and foremost of a new breed of "noir" comic book storytellers, thanks to the tremendous popularity of his work on the industry-changing Batman: The Dark Knight Returns series. He also directed the film version of Will Eisner's The Spirit, and shared directing duties with Robert Rodriguez on Sin City, and produced the film 300. .
