Description

Bernard Baily Weird Mysteries #4 Ultra-Classic Skull Pre-Code Horror Cover Original Art (Gilmore Publishing, 1953). One of the most iconic horror covers of the 1950s, this "in-your face" art offers a huge skull with a bayonet piercing the forehead, and coming out of an eye socket -- an ant with a drooling human head emerging from its mouth. It was an image guaranteed to give nightmares to any 10-year-old who gazed upon it. The book title and a text block are missing but this lot includes a twice-up Photostat of the published comic cover that can be glued into place. The approximate image area of this horror classic is 14" x 19". There is a half-inch inch tear on the left side of the art, and a 1.5" tear extending into an area of white space on the right side of the art; otherwise, it's in Very Good condition.
