Description:
Captain America Comics #1 Signature Series (Timely, 1941) CGC VG- 3.5 Cream to off-white pages. Joe Simon is one of the pivotal figures in the comic book medium, so it's neat to have his signature on this key issue that he co-created. Also, as noted below, Signature Series copies of this major key are few and far between. Origin and first appearance of Captain America and Bucky by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. First appearance of the Red Skull. Hitler cover. CGC notes, "Signed by Joe Simon on 10/15/09. Small amount of dried glue on detached centerfold. 1 piece of tape on interior cover." Overstreet 2012 VG 4.0 value = $22,000. CGC census 7/13: 4 in 3.5, 43 higher. For Signature Series: 1 in 3.5, 1 higher. Auctioned on behalf of Tadano America Corporation.
