Detective Comics #31 (DC, 1939) CGC GD 2.0 Cream to off-white pages. We dare say most anyone who has bid on the few unrestored copies of this book we've offered in recent years is kicking himself for not bidding higher. When we ask collectors which Golden Age books they are looking for, this is invariably among the most requested. It's got one of the most classic covers in the history of comics, it's tough to find in unrestored condition, and of course, it's just the fifth appearance of Batman. Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list has this at #11, and this might move up in the new Guide which will be released after this catalog goes to press. We certainly expect the Overstreet GD value to increase significantly, and we will update that number in our online listing prior to the auction. Cover art by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson.
