Description

Batman #2 (DC, 1940) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white to white pages. This issue rates in the top half of Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics, and with issue #1 being so expensive in high grade that it's out of the reach for most collectors, it might be time to obtain a copy of #2 before history repeats itself!
This issue draws notoriety for featuring the second appearances of the Joker and Catwoman, as well as the first appearance of the name "Catwoman," since this classic villainess was called "the Cat" in her first outing in #1. Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson are credited with the cover art.
This 64-page issue featured four Batman stories, and kids would read it again and again, which is why most existing copies are scuffed, smudged, and spine-split. Not so with this attractive specimen, which boasts a bright, clean cover with deep reds and vibrant yellows. This is a superb opportunity to finally secure one in high grade. Only two copies of this issue have been certified with higher grades from CGC as of this writing. CGC notes, "Small amount of writing on interior cover in pencil." Overstreet 2012 VF 8.0 value = $13,500; VF/NM 9.0 value = $25,750. CGC census 5/13: 2 in 8.5, 2 higher.
