Description:

Feature Comics #27 (Quality, 1939) Condition: VG+. He's not on the cover, but this was the first appearance of the Doll Man! This issue is dubbed "rare" by Overstreet. Quality had only been publishing comics for six months when this issue came out, and the Doll Man was the company's very first superhero. The character was created by Will Eisner and drawn beautifully by Lou Fine in this first appearance (which is also his origin story). By the way, the Clock, who also appears here, didn't have super powers, but he was already a three-year comics veteran by 1939 -- he was the first masked man created for comic books when he made his debut for another publisher back in 1936! The centerfold is detached. Based on this copy's provenance, we think it may be the Mile High copy. Overstreet 2006 VG 4.0 value = $850.From the John McLaughlin Collection.
