Description

Will Eisner The Spirit (Weekly Comic Book) "P'Gell" page 3 Original Art dated 5-25-47 (Des Moines Register and Tribune Syndicate, 1947). It's key to note that Eisner himself was doing the vast majority -- if not all -- of the artwork himself during this era, and this is certainly visible in these wonderful panels. This character-rich Spirit page hails from a prime year. Sultry P'Gell, the curvy, femme fatale who was named after the red light district in Paris (the Quartier Pigalle), Commissioner Dolan, Ebony White, and the Spirit all co-star. This brilliantly staged page has an image area of 13" x 18", and the art is in Excellent condition. A vintage Spirit comic section from The Chicago Sun that has a printed version of this page is included with this lot.
