Description
Detective Comics #32 (DC, 1939) CGC VF- 7.5 Off-white to white pages. It's a well-known fact among today's bat-fans that the Dark Knight has two rules: he doesn't use guns, and he doesn't kill. However, during his first few appearances in 1939, the Caped Crusader didn't just pack heat, he used without hesitation, doing so to eliminate a pair of villains in this issue. Overstreet sites it as the "first time a costumed hero used a gun in comic books." Bob Kane's character was already the star of the book in this, his sixth appearance, and the cover by Fred Guardineer was the next-to-last non-Batman cover of the series. The issue also features Speed Saunders (drawn by Guardineer) and Slam Bradley (with a Jerry Siegel story and Joe Shuster art). Overstreet 2010 VF 8.0 value = $6,117.
