Description
Marvel Mystery Comics #9 (Timely, 1940) CGC GD+ 2.5 Cream to off-white pages. The Overstreet value of this book shot way up in the last Guide, and the book is now deservedly ranked among the top 20 Golden Age comics. In fact we think it's due to move higher, as the Guide hasn't yet caught up with the prices #9 commands. The issue is prized not only for its scarcity but also because of the significance of the Human Torch versus Sub-Mariner battle shown on the cover. Overstreet noted that this was "the first time in comics that two super heroes appeared together in one story." The cover art is credited to Bill Everett and Alex Schomburg. Overstreet 2010 GD 2.0 value = $3,600. CGC census 1/11: 3 in 2.5, 15 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
