Description

Tales of Suspense #39 Twin Cities pedigree (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages. We noted this down as a "9.2++" before submitting it to CGC -- dismiss the pluses as hype if you wish, but take a close look at our scan first to see if you agree with us! What can't be disputed is that this is the highest-graded copy of the book we've ever offered, and also that the issue is a very hot book indeed. It's the first appearance and origin of Iron Man, with cover art by Jack Kirby and Don Heck. This key is so much in demand that it continues to stay ahead of the Overstreet values. While this copy is being auctioned without reserve and the high bidder is guaranteed to take it home, we sincerely doubt that the "top of Guide" value of $20,000 will be anywhere near enough to win it. Overstreet 2010 NM- 9.2 value = $20,000. CGC census 4/11: 16 in 9.2, 8 higher. From the Gary Dahlberg Collection.
