Marvel Mystery Comics #9 Larson pedigree (Timely, 1940) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white pages. The Human Torch and Sub-Mariner battle was the first crossover in comics! This key issue is considered "scarce" by Overstreet, and The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books concurs, awarding its own "scarce" rating of "7", one of only two in the title's 92-issue run so designated. That only two copies have been certified with nicer grades than FN/VF 7.0 by CGC just adds to the allure. Scarcity aside, there's the classic cover (Overstreet and CGC agree on this point) by Bill Everett and Alex Schomburg, and a Human Torch/Sub-Mariner battle so intense, it spilled over into the next issue! Bill Everett, Carl Burgos, and Paul Gustavson provided the story art. Overstreet 2009 FN 6.0 value = $9,000. CGC census 4/10: 2 in 6.0, 5 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
