Superman #1 (DC, 1939) CGC FR 1.0 Cream to off-white pages. As the third most-desirable comic in the hobby behind only Action #1 and Detective #27, this is a high-demand book in any grade. And the supply of blue-label copies is short -- note that despite the low grade just 22 copies have received a higher "universal" grade from CGC! Also, just four of those were given grades higher than 5.0.Superman #1 is significant as the first series devoted entirely to a character who originated in comic books. In other words, it proved that the medium could support more than strip reprints and anthology titles.
As Fair copies go, you might be pleasantly surprised when you look at the scan of this one -- there are no missing chunks and there's no writing anywhere on the book. In fact, the most important part, the main cover image, looks pretty good here. Also, this might be a copy that lends itself to professional restoration.
This key book should be tough to pass up for anyone who recognizes its significance.
