Neal Adams - Original Cover Art Preliminary for Tarzan and the Lion Man (Ballantine, 1975). This powerful preliminary sketch for a mass market paperback cover shows off the raw energy and the attention to detail that are hallmarks of Neal Adams' work. This is more than just a rough sketch; it contains all the essential elements of the finished cover, with well defined anatomy on the fighting figures, detailed facial expressions, and even the articulation of the fingers of the ape in the foreground. This is a marvelous glimpse into the creative process of a master at work. The piece measures 8.5" x 11" and the art extends to the left hand edge of the page.
