Gas Comics #2 (Vulcan Gas Co., 1970) Condition: VG+. Here's an Underground that has obtained near-legendary status primarily due to the color picture featured in the Jay Kennedy's 1982 Official Underground and Newave Comix Price Guide. This book was available only in Austin, Texas, at the old Vulcan Gas Company. Opened on October 27, 1967, the Vulcan was Texas' original counter-culture dance hall. Among the posters and handbills distributed at the Vulcan, there were Underground Comix, too. This copy has survived the years pretty well; most were probably worn out and tossed after the rock shows. Jerry Weist's 2000 Comic Art Price Guide gave this a FN value of $75.Auction Info
