Description
Classics Illustrated #1-70 Bound Volumes (Gilberton, 1946-50). This great set of bound volumes includes the first 70 issues of the classic, long-running series that have been trimmed and hardbound. Included are seven volumes containing ten books each, the first 40 or so of which are reprint editions, and the remainder are all first editions. Highlights include copies of issues #8 ("Arabian Nights," HRN 51), #14 ("Westward Ho!," HRN 53), #21 ("3 Famous Mysteries," HRN 62), #26 ("Frankenstein," HRN 60), #33 ("Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," HRN 53), #35 ("Last Days of Pompeii," first edition), #37 ("The Pioneers," HRN 62), #40 ("Mysteries," HRN 62 2A), and #43 ("Great Expectations," first edition). The volumes are in nice overall condition, with a moderate amount of wear and tear (the spine on volume 1 has been repaired with tape), and the individual books are also in nice condition with several instances of minor tearing, creasing, wear, or the occasional water stain, and mild page tanning.
