Description

Marvel Mystery Comics #12 (Timely, 1940) CGC VG 4.0 Cream to off-white pages. Overstreet calls Jack Kirby's cover "classic." Not only do we agree wholeheartedly with that, it makes us wish King Kirby had been a more prolific cover artist for Timely back in the Golden Age. Starring in the issue are the Sub-Mariner (by Bill Everett) and the Human Torch (by Carl Burgos). This is a much more appealing copy than the modest grade might indicate; it was evidently bumped down because of a water stain, but we had to look closely to notice the stain at all, and we think most collectors will agree. Overstreet 2005 VG 4.0 value = $800. CGC census 9/05: 1 in 4.0, 13 higher.
