Description

Luis Dominguez - Original Cover Art for House of Secrets #116 (DC, 1974). Luis Dominguez excels at illustrational cartooning, especially in the western, love, war, and horror genres. Here he combines a fine-line precision with a looser dry brush technique for creating the atmospheric shadows and spooky mood. In the gothic romance-mystery tradition revived by DC editor Joe Orlando, a lovely lass is menaced by a macabre figure as she beats a hasty retreat from the gallows. The art is signed with the "LD" monograph, under the ghostly apparition. The art paper measures 12" x 17.5", with an image area of 10" x 15.25", and the art is in very clean condition. There is some minor paper aging, and a small vertical stain under the logo, near the apparition's left hand. The title logo box stat is a replacement, and is color-matched to the art paper.
