Strange Tales #135 Pacific Coast pedigree (Marvel, 1965) CGC NM/MT 9.8 Off-white to white pages. Stan Lee and company deftly filled the void left by the departure of the Human Torch by fusing the spy-fi craze of the '60s with Marvel magic, reintroducing Nick Fury as an agent of the super-secret intelligence organization S.H.I.E.L.D. The bureau's nemesis, the terrorist organization HYDRA, also makes its first appearance. Jack Kirby provided the cover and art for the feature, while the Dr. Strange feature is drawn by Steve Ditko. This fantastic Pacific Coast copy has as pristine a cover as one could hope for, and it's the highest-graded copy certified by CGC to date. Overstreet 2012 NM- 9.2 value = $600.
