Description

Our Army at War #81 (DC, 1959) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white to white pages. The first Sgt. Rock prototype had appeared some four years earlier in All-American Men of War, but the last prototype, Sgt. Rocky of Easy Co., in this issue is so valued by collectors that it's the most valuable "Big Five" issue of all. There's sure to be a real tussle among bidders for this copy -- it's tied for the highest grade that CGC has yet awarded for the issue, an issue that has seen copies certified at grades as nice as FN 6.0 only a handful of times. Jerry Grandenetti cover. Ross Andru, Russ Heath, and Joe Kubert art. Overstreet 2011 VF 8.0 value = $2,336; VF/NM 9.0 value = $4,768. CGC census 11/11: 3 in 8.5, none higher. From the Keith Marlow Collection.
