Alfred Andriola - Kerry Drake Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 9-15-68 (Field Enterprises Inc., 1968). A beautiful girl and taught suspense -- these are the hallmarks of the Kerry Drake comic strip. This episode has an image area of 20" x 14". The top panel tier was cut off the episode (and later reattached with tape). There is a vertical fold through the strip and a glue-stained title logo; otherwise, the art is in Good condition. Ken Bald - Dr. Kildare Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 11-27-66 (King Features Syndicate, 1966). The photorealistic cartooning style of Ken Bald was perfect for this feature based on the TV series. This episode has an image area of 21" x 15". This Sunday has a glue-stained title logo stat, the cityscape in panel six is a photocopy paste-on, and a lettering correction in the next-to-last panel is missing; otherwise, the art is in Good condition. Bud Blake - Tiger Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 12-10-67 (King Features Syndicate, 1967). Playful Punkinhead stars in this lighthearted episode. This Sunday has an image area of 19" x 13", and aside from a glue-stained title logo stat, and a vertical fold through the strip, the art is in Good condition. From the Jim Logan Collection.

Marvin Bradley and Frank Edgington - Rex Morgan, M.D. Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 6-30-68 (Field Enterprises, Inc., 1968). The clean-edged melodrama of Rex Morgan's practice is the focus of this sixties Sunday. This strip has an image area of 20" x 14", and aside from a fold through the center of this episode, the art is in Very Good condition. From the Jim Logan Collection.

Dan DeCarlo - Archie Giant Series Magazine #568 Betty and Veronica Christmas Spectacular Cover Original Art (Archie, 1987). This cover spotlights Yuletide fun with Betty and Veronica. This cover has an image area of 9.5" x 15". The typeset words "and" and "Spectacular" are on an acetate overlay; otherwise, the art is in Very Good condition.
Dan DeCarlo and Jim DeCarlo - Archie Giant Series Magazine #593 Betty and Veronica Christmas Spectacular Cover Original Art (Archie, 1989). A snowman doubles for Archie in this jolly holiday scene. This cover has an image area of 9.5" x 15". The issue number stat is missing at the upper left corner; otherwise, the art is in Very Good condition.

Frank Engli - Rocky, The Stone-Age Kid Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 5-16-43 (Chicago Tribune, 1943). Before the Flintstones, there was Rocky. This stone-age Sunday has an image area of 13.5" x 18.5", and the art is in Excellent condition. Frank Engli signed the art in its lower border. From the Jim Logan Collection.

Al Capp Studio Li'l Abner and the Creatures from Drop-Outer Space (#nn) Double Splash Page 14-15 Original Art (US Dept. of Labor, 1965). Li'l Abner, Danny Driftwood, and Sam are featured on this two-page splash. Frank Frazetta had a previous well-documented stint working for Capp on the Li'l Abner newspaper strip, and some collectors and historians have credited him with artwork on this project, though at this point his actual involvement - as well as any firm artist attribution on this art - is unclear. This double-page splash has a combined page image area of 19.5" x 13", and aside from some paper aging to the left edge of page 15, and two tape stains, the art averages Very Good condition. Signed by Al Capp in the lower-center of page 14.
Al Capp Studio Li'l Abner and the Creatures from Drop-Outer Space (#nn) Story Page 16 Original Art (US Dept. of Labor, 1965).
Frank Frazetta had a previous well-documented stint working for Capp on the Li'l Abner newspaper strip, and some collectors and historians have credited him with artwork on this project, though at this point his actual involvement - as well as any firm artist attribution on this art - is unclear. This page has an image area of 9" x 13". There are word balloon paste-on corrections in the top panel, and aside from a word balloon lettering correction that has slipped off the lower panel and gone missing, the art is in Very Good condition. Signed by Al Capp in the top panel, at its lower right.
Stan Goldberg - Millie the Model #113, Paper Doll Splash Page 16 Original Art (Marvel, 1963). Tall and toned --- It's "Time For Toni." This paper doll page is sure to be a treasured showpiece for any Stan Goldberg fan. This page has an image area of 12.5" x 18", and the art is in Excellent condition. A copy of the comic book is included in this lot.
Stan Goldberg - Modeling With Millie #30, Paper Doll Splash Page 12 Original Art (Marvel, 1964). Chili will look smoking hot in these sensational styles designed by Marvel readers for "Chili's Classy Cut-Out." This splash has an image area of 12.5' x 18", and aside from a glue stain over Chili's torso and a hole cut out around the lower dress design, the art is in Good condition. A copy of the comic book is included in this lot.


Stan Goldberg - Modeling With Millie #32, Paper Doll Splash Page 16 Original Art (Marvel, 1964). Millie's all set to mix and match these terrific sweater and slacks designed by her readers. This splash page has an image area of 12.5" x 18", and the art is in Excellent condition. A copy of the comic book is included in this lot.
Ron Harris - Star Trek Sunday and Daily Comic Strip Original Art, Group of 7 (L.A. Times Syndicate, 1982). The crew of the Starship Enterprise star in a week's worth of strips starting with the Sunday dated 7-4-82, and continuing in six dailies, dated 7-5 through 7-10-82. Featuring SF writer Larry Niven's plotline on the week-long run with his Kzindi and other Alien characters. The dailies have an image area of 16" x 5" (and are drawn two to a page), while the Sunday has an image area of 18" x 12.5". Written by Sharman DiVono and Larry Niven, with art by Ron Harris, the art averages Excellent condition.
Gene Hazelton - Flintstones Daily Comic Strip Original Art (McNaught Syndicate, undated). Fred's plan to get a little attention from Wilma backfires in this early, undated episode. This daily has an image area of 20.5" x 6.25", and the art is in Excellent condition.
Gene Hazelton - Flintstones Daily Comic Strip Original Art (McNaught Syndicate, undated). Fred, Wilma, and Pebbles all star in this splendid daily from the sixties. This episode has an image area of 18.5" x 5.75". Aside from a fold between panels one and two, and some light paper aging, the art is in Very Good condition.
Warren Kremer - Little Lotta Foodland #18 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1969). In a land of candy, Little Lotta is in paradise! This sweet treat by Warren Kremer has an image area of 5.75" x 8". Aside from some glue staining along all four edges, the condition is Very Good.

Animation Art
"Alley to Bali" Model Sheet Animation Art (Walter Lantz Productions, 1954). Sailors Woody and Buzz Buzzard vie for the attention of a South Pacific island girl, in the Lantz short, "Alley to Bali." Woody and Buzz admire a multi-limbed island beauty in this model sheet, which has an image area measuring 11" x 8". There is some light paper tanning; otherwise, the condition is Very Good. Includes a smaller printed copy of the model sheet, which was distributed among the animators. Matted and framed.
Walter Lantz - "Poop Deck Pirate" Model Sheet Animation Art and Signed Payroll Check (Walter Lantz Productions, 1961). Woody's quest for peace and quiet on Tutti Frutti Island is sabotaged by the pirate Sea Dog Sam, in Lantz's 1961 short, "Poop Deck Pirate." Various views of Sea Dog Sam and Woody fill this model sheet, which has an image area measuring 12" x 10". There is some light paper tanning, light creasing, and edge wear; otherwise the condition is Very Good. Also included is a Walter Lantz signed payroll check from Walter Lantz Productions. Matted and framed.

Walter Lantz - "William Boyd in The Leatherneck" Illustration Original Art (circa, 1929). Walter Lantz graphically recounts a moment during the filming of "The Leatherneck," a silent film about budding friendships set during the first World War, in this spirited illustration. Titled "Imagine My Embarrassment," this early Lantz drawing was rendered with an ink wash, and has an image area measuring 12" x 9.5". Matted, and in Very Good condition.
Larry Lieber - The Amazing Spider-Man Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 3-10-97 (King Features Syndicate, 1997). Peter Parker uncovers the truth about the Weezo and Frog Man team. This "Spidey-spectacular" has an image area measuring 13" x 4". In Excellent condition.


Larry Lieber - The Amazing Spider-Man Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 3-11-97 (King Features Syndicate, 1997). While Weezo, who is impersonating Spider-Man, has to rely on Frog Man to clear a tall fence, Peter Parker does some real wall-crawling, as only the genuine Spidey can do it. This thriller has an image area measuring 13" x 4". In Excellent condition.


Larry Lieber - The Amazing Spider-Man Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 3-12-97 (King Features Syndicate, 1997). Things take an ugly turn in this suspense-filled episode featuring Weezo, Frog Man, and Mary Jane. This daily has an image area measuring 13" x 4". In Excellent condition.

Jim Logan - "Fritz the Cat" Sketch Original Art (1972). Animator Jim Logan drew this splendid group portrait of the cast of the animated film, "Fritz the Cat" as a gift for his daughter Laurie. Jack Moore - Kelly Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 11-26-73 (Universal Press Syndicate, 1973). Duke has an unusual take on the Christmas spirit. This daily has an image area of 26" x 7.5", and aside from a fold through the center of the strip, the art is in Very Good condition. From the Jim Logan Collection.

Paul Terry's Comics #89 Cover Original Art (St. John, 1951). The Terry Bears take the honors in this cover scene. This "spanking cover" has an image area of 11" x 16", and the art is in Very Good condition. A copy of the comic book is included in this lot.

Jack Rickard - Pauline McPeril Daily Comic Strip Original Art, Group of 2 (Publishers Newspaper Syndicate, 1966). Pauline McPeril is a real swinging spy-chick in these episodes, dated 12-13 and 12-14-66. Each daily has an image area of 17.5" x 5.5", and the art averages Excellent condition.

Harry Sahle - Hello Pal Comics #1, Complete 6 -page Story "Lieutenant Chick Crawford and the Mad Stampede" Original Art (Harvey, 1943). After his plane crashes on the shores of a Nazi-infested African jungle, can Lieutenant "Chick" Crawford possibly escape, or must he remain a prisoner of those sly and treacherous men of the Swastika? You'll discover the answer to those questions in this six-pager by Harry Sahle. Filled with rampaging pachyderms and a nasty Nazi commander with the prerequisite monocle, the story moves at a brisk pace with a hefty helping of jungle action. The image area of each page measures approximately 13" x 18". The logo has been partially recreated; otherwise, the art is in Very Good condition.
Howie Schneider - Eek and Meek Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 7-5-70 (NEA, Inc. 1970). Those two mirthful mice, Eek and Meek, are at it again in this episode from the seventies. This Sunday has an image area of 21" x 14", and aside from a tape stain in the lower border, the art is in Excellent condition. From the Jim Logan Collection.

Al Smith - Mutt and Jeff Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 7-2-67 (Bell-McClure Syndicate, 1967). As this cow finds out, it's pretty hard to outsmart Mutt and Jeff. This Sunday has an approximate image area of 19" x 18". The title logo tier was cut from the page and the strip was folded vertically through its center; otherwise, the art is Good condition. Otto Soglow - The Little King Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 5-19-68 (King Features Syndicate, 1968). The ruler with a heart of gold stars in this charming episode from the sixties. This Sunday has an image area of 19" x 13", and aside from a glue-stained title logo stat, the art is in Very Good condition. Otto Soglow signed this strip in its lower border. Leonard Starr - Mary Perkins On Stage Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 5-21-72 (Chicago Tribune, 1972). Crisp linework and dramatic storytelling are the highlights of this seventies episode. This strip has an image area of 19.5" x 13". Each panel has been cut out and glued to a larger piece of support paper. The glue has weakened over time and several of the panels are coming loose, or have come off the paper. As a result, a couple of the panels on the bottom panel tier were taped to the board with masking tape; otherwise, the art is in Good condition. From the Jim Logan Collection.

Tick Tock Tales #10 Cover Original Art (ME, 1946). This slam-bang cover will be a sure-fire hit with funny animal fans. This piece has an image area of 12.5" x 17.5", and aside from an art correction paste-up of the Muggsy figure, the art is in Very Good condition. A copy of the comic book is also included in this lot.

Dale Ulrey - Mary Worth's Family Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 3-2-41 (Publisher's Syndicate, 1941). Bill Biff tries to impress Gran'pa Bramble and ends up with egg on his face instead. This Sunday hails from approximately two years after Apple Mary changed its title to Mary Worth's Family. The image area of this uproarious strip measures 21" x 16". This Sunday has a few light stains; otherwise, the art is in Good condition.
Boris Vallejo - "Kalevanpojat" Painting Original Art (1992). Boris Vallejo based this scene on Finnish Mythology. The giant Kalevanpojat was created by the goddess Ailej from burned trees after a forest fire, and had the ability to turn fertile land into heaps of stones, or wasteland into marshy meadows, with his magic sickle. This oil on paper painting is not framed. The piece has an approximate overall size of 24" x 30" and an image area of 20" x 26", and is in Excellent condition.

Wally Wallgren - Hoosegow Herman Sunday Comic Strip Original Art (McNaught Syndicate, 1939). Tall tales are a specialty of the "Kernel," as can be seen in this hilarious Hoosegow Herman Sunday. This episode has an image area of 21" x 13". This strip was folded in half vertically, and there is a stain across the upper right corner; otherwise, the art is in Good condition. Morris Weiss - Mickey Finn Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 1-3-71 (McNaught Syndicate Inc., 1971). History repeats itself in this crisply drawn Mickey Finn episode by Morris Weiss. This Sunday has an image area of 19" x 11.5". The top panel tier was cut from the strip (and later reattached with tape) and there is some staining; otherwise, the art is in Very good condition. S. Clay Wilson - Checkered Demon Illustration Original Art (1982). Underground Comix artist S. Clay Wilson provides us with another whacked-out portrait of his horned hero, as the Demon turns the tables on a lady drug dealer. Not for the faint of heart -- but what Wilson art is? Ink and watercolor on bristol, measuring 7" x 10". In Excellent condition. Adult themes.
Chic Young - Blondie Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 3-6-56 (King Features Syndicate, 1956). Dagwood just can win when it comes to earning or spending his money. This daily has an image area of 17.5" x 5", and aside from yellowed Zipatone, the art is in Good condition.

Walter Lantz and an animated Woody prepare for a "Halloween Party," in this special Halloween episode of "The Woody Woodpecker Show." This hand-drawn script, illuminated with drawings, consists of thirteen pages of note paper, bound in a beautiful leather presentation portfolio. Measures 9" x 13.5". National Cartoonists Society Christmas Party Tribute to Chester Gould Photograph (1968). This panoramic black and white photograph captured most of the NCS members at the Christmas party tribute to Dick Tracy's creator in 1968. Note the "Dick Tracy hats" on many of the attendees. Cartoonists we recognize include Chester Gould, Rube Goldberg, Jerry Robinson, and Gil Kane. This piece has an overall size of 20" x 10", and it's in Very Good condition. Director Richard Williams brought Johnny Gruelle's classic rag doll characters to life in this animated feature, which has since been regarded as a classic in its own right. 137 pages plus added credit pages. Chester Gould - Celebrated Cases of Dick Tracy Signed Copy (Chelsea House, 1970). Included on the opening flyleaf of this Dick Tracy omnibus is a signed 1973 note from Chester Gould, along with a hand colored printed illustration. Book is in VG+ condition; dustjacket is GD/VG. Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnson - Disney Animation the Illusion of Life (Abbeville Press, 1981). While this copy of Thomas and Johnson's fabulous reference book on Disney animation is missing a dust jacket, it does have an added bonus -- a Mickey Mouse color postcard, signed by master animator Ward Kimball, has been attached to the flyleaf page. John Cannemaker - The Animated Raggedy Ann & Andy Signed Copy (Bobbs-Merrill, 1977). Animator Jim Logan was one of the many who worked on the film, "Raggedy Ann & Andy - A Musical Adventure". This book was his personal copy, and it was signed by many of his co-workers, including the author, John Cannemaker, plus Grim Natwick, Eric Goldberg, Charlie Downs, and originator Johnny Gruelle's son, Worth.
