Original Comic Art
C.C. Beck - Original Art Cover Recreation of Marvel Mystery Comics #8 (1974). In the '70s, legendary Fawcett/Captain Marvel artist C.C. Beck did a series of cover recreations of popular Golden Age titles. This beautiful recreation of Marvel Mystery #8 is an almost-exact duplicate of the Bill Everett original, and features gloriously bright colors (rendered in acrylics) and bold lines. 15" x 20", with an image area of 11.5" x 16".
Robert Crumb - Original Illustration "Note - June 3, 1960 (early '60s). Another cover of one of Crumb's "Notes", letters assembled into the form of comic books, from the early '60s. Rendered in colored pencil and ink. The image area is 5.5" x 8.8", mounted onto a piece of 13" x 16" board and matted.
Robert Crumb - Original Illustration "Note - Tuesday, August 8, 1961 (early '60s). Rendered in pen and ink and crayon. 5.5" x 8.5". Mounted on a piece of 13" x 16" board and beautifully matted.
Robert Crumb - Original Comic Strip Art for Arcade #23, "Little Billy Bean" (1962). Modeled in a Jules Feiffer style, Little Billy Bean is considered to be one of Crumb's first self-portraits. Billy is a chubby version of Crumb himself complete with bow tie and attitude. This pencilled art measures approximately 6.5" x 8.5" and is drawn on lined notebook paper. Great early Crumb art.
Robert Crumb - Original Art Sketches (undated, early '60s). A page from one of the Composition Book sketchbooks Crumb produced in the late '50s/early '60s, this is a collection of unrelated humorous sketches, including one of the bow-tied frog characters that he drew so often. The back side depicts a lovely portrait of what appears to be a turn-of-the-century woman, within the outline of what one presumes is Crumb's own bony hand. All beautifully rendered in pencil on lined paper. One page, measures 6.75" x 8.50", art on both sides.
Robert Crumb - Original Greeting Card Illustration (undated). This small illustration of a wigged out bird was created in pen and ink and colored with marker on a piece is 4" x 9" illustration paper (image area). It is mounted on an 11" x 16" board and attractively matted.
Robert Crumb - Original Illustration (undated). This small pen and ink on sketch paper is approximately 5" x 8" is incredibly detailed considering its small proportion. We are not sure where this drawing was published but it is certainly a nice piece of Crumb. The art is clean with some printer notes along the top edge.
Steve Ditko - Original Art for Strange Tales #104, page 1 (Marvel, 1962). Illustrating a story by Stan Lee, Marvel's stalwart Steve Ditko takes the reigns in this page from "The Frog-Man!" from 1962. This page is in great condition will just some slight aging to the patina of the page. Overall size is 14.5" x 21", with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Very nice!
Tom Grindberg and Bob Almond - Original Art for Star Trek Deep Space Nine #9, page 6, "Public Enemies, Private Lives" (Marvel, 1997). O'Brien, Kira, Keiko, and Jake travel to a jungle planet on a routine botanical exploration, but are captured by Maquis and Romulans. This page is gorgeous with great cameos by Keiko, O'Brien and Kira, drawn in a light open style by Tom Grindberg and inked by Bob Almond. The first panel is exceptionally nice with a very Frazetta-esque chiaroscuro, inked with a nice crisp line with great attention to texture. The overall size is approximately 16" x 20" with a black matted 9" x 15" image area. Signed by Bob Almond at the lower left.
Russ Heath - Original Art for G.I. Combat #146, Story Page 14 (DC, 1971). The last page of this spectacular story has the crew of the Haunted Tank reassemble their fighting machine. Evocative action from the legendary Mr. Heath, with a cool half-splash and a nice cameo by Jeb Stuart. Truly terrific. 11.5" x 17.5", exceptionally clean, with only a tiny amount of white-out.
Russ Heath - Original Art for Our Army at War #256, page 9 (DC, 1973). Sgt. Rock tries to minimize the bloodshed when he and an elite battalion of seargents attack an enemy pillbox. You can practically feel the rush of air as the bullets whiz by in this classic page of battle-action by the amazing Russ Heath. 10.5" x 16.75", near-perfect condition with virtually no white-out, some tape stains at the edges.
Russ Heath - Original Art for Moon Knight #4, pages 18, 20, and 29 (Marvel, 1989). Nice lot of three pages includes a spectacular action page that culminates in a stunning good-girl panel featuring the Black Cat. Sterling work from Heath's brief run on this popular title. Three pages, each measuring 11" x 17". Most of the panels are hand-lettered on the page, but a few have been pasted on, and on page 29, there is a word balloon missing in the last panel. Superb condition with very little white-out, some editorial notes in the margins.
Russ Heath - Original Art for Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #49, pages 9 & 12 (DC, 1993). Batman and Catwoman appear on both of these excellent pages from the concluding issue of this four-part story arc, as the homicidal Catman menaces a beauty pageant. A dressing room full of nubile babes is all any Russ Heath could ask for, but there's also some moody visuals and action. Two pages in excellent condition, with virtually no white-out. 11" x 17".
Russ Heath - Original Art for Legends of the Dark Knight Annual #7, pages 18 and 22 (DC, 1997). Two pages from this unusual LOTDK issue set during WWII, including a spectacular splash page featuring a skyful of German combat balloons, and a nice character page with a pretty girl. Cleans lines and abundant detail make this lot a treat for any Russ Heath fan. Two pages, 11" x 17", virtually no white-out.
Russ Heath - Original Lone Ranger Comic Strip Art, Lot of 3 Strips (1980s). Debuting in the wake of the atrocious early-'80s film version of the Lone Ranger, this comic strip achieved a much higher level of artistry than the movie, and is a favorite among fans of the Lone Rider of the Plains. Even more importantly, most of Russ Heath's artwork for this series (which was penned by long-time DC scribe Cary Bates) has been destroyed, and probably less than a hundred of the daily strips survive. Offered here is a lot of three consecutive strips featuring an exceptionally moody and evocative sequence in which the sleeping Ranger and Tonto almost fall victim to a deadly rattlesnake, only to be saved by trusted steed Silver. Filled with Heath's realistic renderings and rich, deep blacks this would be a real showcase for any fan of the Lone Ranger and/or Russ Heath. Three strips, each measuring 6" x 17.5", beautifully rendered with virtually no white-out.

Artist unknown - Original Art for Chamber of Chills #20, Complete 5-page Story, "End of the Line" (Harvey, 1953). Here's a story that certainly flirts with disaster. Set in a subway underneath the city, a married couple have a twist of fate with another rider in this tale of subterrestrial terror. We're not sure who the artist is, but they did a bang-up job on all fronts, including the subway interiors and the incredible emotion depicted on the characters faces. Overall size is 15" x 22" with an image area of 12" x 18". These pages are very nice, with a nominal amount of white-out and some liner notes along the extreme edges.

Very clean, with very little white-out, mostly on the lady's posterior. The logo is a recent replacement, and the piece has been attractively matted.
