Historic Batman #1 to be Offered by Heritage!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers (HG&A) will offer one of the finest-known copies of the landmark comic, Batman #1, CGC-graded VF- 7.5 with cream to off-white pages, in their upcoming Comic and Original Comic Art Signature Auction, to be held January 20 & 21, 2006, in Dallas, Texas.
"This is, without a doubt, one of the most desirable comic books ever published," said Ed Jaster, Vice President, HG&A. "Not only is it the first appearance of the Caped Crusader in his own title, it also features a recap of the origin of Batman and the first appearances of classic arch-foes The Joker and the Catwoman (although she called herself 'The Cat' in this, her maiden outing), as well as a classic, and oft-imitated cover."
"One of the most popular and enduring fictional characters ever created," Jaster said, "Batman has seen continuous publication since his debut in 1939. He has spawned a number of movies, a hit TV show, several animated series, and a veritable mountain of merchandising. Right now, his popularity is at an all-time high, thanks to Christopher Nolan's masterful film, Batman Begins. Let's face it, this is a great time to be a Bat-collector!"
"Offered here is one of the finest copies known to exist of this very desirable comic," Jaster added. "According to the CGC Census, there are only a handful of copies that have graded higher than this exquisite specimen. Anyone looking for a quality, investment-grade collectible need look no further than this truly significant comic book."
Batman #1, CGC-graded VF- 7.5 with Cream to off-white pages, carries a pre-auction estimate of $50,000.
