Windy City Copy of Captain America #1 to be Offered by Heritage!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Comics Auctions (HCA) will offer one of the finest copies known to exist of the landmark comic book, Captain America Comics #1, CGC-graded VF+ 8.5, Cream to off-white pages, in their upcoming Signature Auction, to be held October 14-15, 2005, in Dallas, Texas.
"This comic, from the prestigious Windy City Collection, is one of the finest copies of this legendary book known to exist," said Lon Allen, Consignment Director for HCA. "Unlike most other high-grade copies, including the Mile High copy, this book is unrestored, making it particularly desirable for the advanced collector."
"Captain America was, without a doubt, the most popular of the patriotic heroes of comics' Golden Age," Allen said. "With a career that began in early 1941 - months before America officially entered the Second World War - and is still going strong today, Cap is one of the foremost of the four-color heroes, right up there with Superman and Batman. This issue, featuring his origin and first appearance, is one of the most significant comics ever published, listed as #6 on Overstreet's ranking of the top most valuable comic books."
"There are only three unrestored copies of this issue that are graded higher than this exquisite specimen," Allen continued, "making this a wonderful opportunity for the serious comic aficionado to add this gem to his or her collection."
This comic carries a pre-auction estimate of $75,000.
