Latest Heritage Amazing Comics AuctionTM Internet 15051

Dallas, TX: Heritage's Amazing Comics AuctionTM (ACA) sale #15051 ended Sunday, May 1, with 849 lots offered. 465 bidders placed bids, and 226 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $76,119.85 for 802 lots (94.46% of lots offered).

A few highlights from the May 1 ACA sale were:

Fantastic Four #1 (Marvel, 1961) CGC VG+ 4.5 Off-white to white pages. Origin and first appearance of the Fantastic Four, Marvel's first superhero team. Origin and first appearance of Mole Man. REALIZED: $3,737.50.

The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC VG+ 4.5 Off-white to white pages. Spider-Man's origin is retold. First Fantastic Four crossover. First appearances of John Jameson, J. Jonah Jameson, and the Chameleon. Steve Ditko cover (Jack Kirby layout) and art. REALIZED: $2,760.

Fantastic Four #48 (Marvel, 1966) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages. With the possible exception of #1, this is the best-remembered and most important issue of this title's 400-plus issue run. The story by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced a cosmic scale that comics hadn't seen before. Two of the great Marvel characters, the SIlver Surfer and Galactus, made their first appearances in a story that fans would rave about for years to come. REALIZED: $1,040.75.

Tales of Suspense #64-99 Group (Marvel, 1965-68) Condition: FN-. These issues are from the great run of Captain America/Iron Man double features, with Jack Kirby drawing most of the Cap tales and Gene Colan or Don Heck doing the honors on Shellhead. This group includes # 64, 65, 66 (origin of the Red Skull), 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, and 99. REALIZED: $805.

Tales to Astonish Group (Marvel, 1962-64) Condition: Average VG-. Eighteen issues in this group include # 36, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56. Issue #36 features the third appearence of Ant-Man, who becomes Giant-Man in issue #49. REALIZED: $747.50.
