Latest Heritage Amazing Comics AuctionTM

Dallas, Texas: Heritage's Amazing Comics AuctionTM (ACA) sale #15012 ended Sunday, January 16, with 590 lots offered. 403 bidders placed bids, and 203 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $56,196.10 for 560 lots (94.91% of lots offered).

A few highlights from the January 16 ACA sale are:

Michael W. Kaluta - The Shadow #4, page 9 Original Art (DC, 1974). The Shadow, as Lamont Cranston, investigates the apparent deaths of a string of gangsters and learns what evil lurks in the bottom of a bottle of hooch, in this page from "Death Is Bliss", written by Denny O'Neil. Phenomenal work by Michael W. Kaluta. The image area measures 10" x 15". Some blue pencil line editorial markings, white-out usage and tape staining at the edges, otherwise in Very Good condition. Signed by Michael W. Kaluta. REALIZED: $1,495.

Rube Grossman - Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer Daily Comic Strips Group of 5 Original Art (King Features Syndicate, 1951). Do you recall the most famous reindeer of all? It's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and here are five daily Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer comic strips from 1951 by the strip's artist, Rube Grossman! Native New Yorker Grossman, was working as a funny animal artist for DC Comics in the 1950s, at around the same time that these strips were completed. The dates of the strips are 11-20-51, 11-28-51, 11-29-51, 12-1-51 and 12-3-51. Five great showpieces of his great talent! The strips measure approximately 6.5" x 22". Aside from some staining, due to aged zipatone, these strips are in Very Good condition. REALIZED: $1,380.

Joe Kubert - All-American Men Of War, Frogman page 7 Original Art (DC, circa 1950s). Joe Kubert is the master of the expressive inked line; he builds suspense to a near unbearable level. A hint of Joe's blue underpenciling shows beneath his inks. The image area of the page measures 13" x 18", and the art is in Excellent condition. You'd be hard pressed to find a more thrilling fifties DC war page in condition this sweet! REALIZED: $1,151.15.

Gil Kane - Green Lantern #55, page 7 Original Art (DC, 1967). Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, dukes it out with an alien foe whose body has the resilience of metallic rubber in "Cosmic Enemy Number One." Gil Kane has inked his own pencils using india ink. The image area is 10" x 15". This Silver Age page has it all, so bid it up GL fans! REALIZED: $1,150.

X-Men #94 (Marvel, 1975) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages. Debut of the new X-Men in this series. Second appearance of Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Thunderbird after Giant-Size X-Men #1. Angel, Marvel Girl and Iceman resign, and Sunfire leaves the group as well. Gil Kane and Dave Cockrum cover. Interior art by Cockrum. REALIZED: $920.
