Description:
Dave Gibbons Watchmen #3 "Trefoil Fallout Shelter Symbol" Cover Original Art (DC, 1986). "Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" -- Genesis chapter 18, verse 25. Dave Gibbon's evocative Fallout Shelter trefoil symbol set the stage "The Judge of All Earth," the third installment in writer Alan Moore's classic superhero tale, Watchmen. This chapter revolved around the exile of Doctor Manhattan and his relationship with Janey Slater and Laurie Juspeczyk who starts to spend time with Dan Dreiberg. The main theme is the risen fear of nuclear war that spread across the city of New York. The impact of this landmark series seems to grow with each passing year, and further bolstered by 2009's successful movie adaptation, the demand for all things Watchmen continues at a fever pitch. Original art from this series simply doesn't change hands once a page lands in a collection, so the demand far outweighs the supply -- witness our Heritage sale of the first page from the first issue, which went for a whopping $33,000+ -- this cover is sure to be a prized showpiece for any Watchmen fan, and the bidding will be ultra-competitive. This spectacular image has an image area of 10" x 15", and the art is in Excellent condition. From the Shamus Modern Masterworks Collection.
