Description:
Watch our video about this lot! Fantastic Four #1 (Marvel, 1961) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white pages. The Marvel Age of Comics essentially started right here. No "tryout" issue -- just Stan Lee and Jack Kirby with an audacious debut issue of what soon was billed "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine!" Over the course of the next two years, Marvel introduced the most enduring superheroes of all-time not named Superman or Batman: Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and the X-Men. It's the second most valuable Silver Age book of all, ranked behind only Amazing Fantasy #15. Featured is the origin and first appearance of Mr. Fantastic, Human Torch, Invisible Girl, and The Thing, collectively Marvel's first superhero team. Jack Kirby provided both the cover and interior art, as he would for the next 100 issues in a legendary run. Overstreet 2012 VF 8.0 value = $26,000. CGC census 11/12: 15 in 8.0, 18 higher.
