Description:
Jack Kirby and Joe Simon Adventures of the Fly #1 "Come Into My Parlor" Double Splash Pages 16-17 Original Art (Archie Comics, 1959). Years before the Amazing Spider-Man came the Fly, a fantastic superhero from the team of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Here's a fantastic double-splash from that character's very first issue, featuring "the Spider" as the villain! There's a great panoramic top panel with "Spider" Spry in his web, and a gun-toting Fly making a forceful entrance, plus five set-up panels, all penciled and inked by Simon & Kirby. The image area measures approximately 26.25" x 18.25", drawn on bristol board. The art is in Good condition, with some creasing damage from several folds, plus some light staining and minor edge tears. An old art correction is in the lower left corner of the top panel, near the Fly's foot. This super-spread still packs a wallop, and if obtaining a piece of prime Simon & Kirby superhero art has been your goal, look no further! From the Joe Simon Estate.

Kirby, Jack: Jack Kirby (American, 1917-1994) : Jack Kirby has received world-wide recognition for his long comic book career and accomplishments. He is regarded by historians and fans as one of the major innovators and most influential creators in the comic-book medium, thus earning the nick-name "King." Among Kirby's many co-creations are Captain America, the Newsboy Legion, the Challengers of the Unknown, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Thor, the Avengers, the X-Men, Silver Surfer, the New Gods, and countless other memorable heroes and villains.
