Description:
Detective Comics #27 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent NM- 9.2 Extensive (P) Off-white pages. It's the highest-graded purple-label copy CGC's certified to date, easily the "best-looking" copy known, since the highest grade awarded to date in a blue Universal label is a "mere" VF 8.0! There's no bigger "key" in comicdom - we're calling it even with Action Comics #1 - and the value of professionally restored copies has risen appreciably with the interest in the limited number of copies in existence.
In case you've just arrived from outer, outer space, Batman was introduced here. Co-creator Bob Kane did the iconic cover and interior art, along with Joe Shuster and Fred Guardineer. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaned, reinforced." Overstreet 2012 GD 2.0 value = $84,000; VG 4.0 value = $168,000; FN 6.0 value = $252,000; VF 8.0 value = $630,000; VF/NM 9.0 value = $990,000; NM- 9.2 value = $1,350,000.
