Description:
Jeff Jones Tarzan with the Golden Lion Painting Original Art (c. 2001). This Jeff Jones masterpiece exudes a raw and primal power that is hard to deny. A golden opportunity for the discerning fan of fine art, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and not one to be missed. Jeff Jones burst forth onto the comics and illustration scene in the late sixties, a glorious renaissance that also blessed the field with the likes of Bernie Wrightson, Michael W. Kaluta and Barry Windsor-Smith. Unlike his contemporaries, Jones shied away from comic book work, and concentrated primarily on illustration and fine art. Hailed by many today to be the successor to Arthur Rackham and N. C. Wyeth, Jones' work is prized world-wide by collectors who are moved by his moody, evocative work. Offered here is a magnificent piece celebrating Tarzan, the Lord of the Jungle, in a breathtaking oil on canvas painting, framed to an approximate overall size of 50" x 74". There is some small scuffs and areas of paint loss, especially along the bottom half of the art, leaving it in a still-presentable Good condition.

Jones, Jeffrey:Jeffrey Catherine Jones (American, b. 1944): is an American artist whose illustration work is perhaps best known from the late sixties onward. Jones created over 150 paperback covers for many different genres, though most often for the science fiction and fantasy genres. In the early seventies Jones created his strip Idyl for National Lampoon, and from 1975 to 1979, Jones shared a work space in Manhattan’s Chelsea district with fellow artists Bernie Wrightson, Barry Smith, and Michael W. Kaluta. The group became collectively known as The Studio. By the early eighties Jones had a recurring strip in Heavy Metal titled I'm Age. However, a growing interest in expressionism led Jones to make a transition away from his commercial work and into fine art.
