Description:
Detective Comics #27 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent NM- 9.2 Extensive (P) Off-white pages. This is the best purple-label copy available of Batman's first appearance! CGC's census for Apparent grades notes this 9.2 with no others above 8.5, and of course the highest grade assigned for unrestored copies remains 8.0.
The last few years have seen a resurgence of interest in restored keys. Since recent results for #27 have shown that even blue-label copies with minimal eye appeal can cost $100,000, we predict even more interest in professionally restored specimens such as this one. The book presents extremely well, and the issue is a pop culture milestone that is sure to remain one of the most desirable comics in the hobby.
CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaned, reinforced." Overstreet 2011 GD 2.0 value = $80,000; VG 4.0 value = $160,000; FN 6.0 value = $240,000; VF 8.0 value = $600,000; VF/NM 9.0 value = $900,000; NM- 9.2 value = $1,200,000.
