Description:
Detective Comics #28 Billy Wright pedigree (DC, 1939) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white to white pages. The second appearance of Batman is a book so tough to find in unrestored condition that we've only offered one in better condition than Poor in our ten years of auctioning vintage comics.
While Batman obviously didn't make the cover except for a blurb, he was the lead feature in the book, indicating that DC knew they had a winner on their hands. The story of the "Bat-Man" (written thus inside if not on the cover) was the second and last to be signed "Rob't Kane."
Fred Guardineer is the cover artist of this early issue, which Overstreet lists among the 50 most valuable Golden Age comic books. Overstreet 2011 VF 8.0 value = $22,500. CGC census 2/12: 1 in 8.0, 2 higher.
