Description:
Bill Watterson Petey Otterloop Painting Original Art (2011). This small painting by Bill Watterson is the first piece of work created by the artist to be made public since he ended his Calvin and Hobbes strip in 1995. Painted in oil on heavy illustration board, the work sparkles with character. Richard Thompson commented: "After studying it pretty closely for the last consecutive 12 hours or so I can say that he's done Petey as much justice as possible. Adding another dimension to a 2D character is a tricky business and Petey's awkward enough in dealing with the two he's normally confined to." In Excellent condition. Signed by the artist with a monogram at the lower left and with his signature on the reverse.

Team Cul de Sac

Team Cul de Sac was created to honor Richard Thompson, creator of the award-winning comic strip, Cul de Sac, after his recent Parkinson's disease diagnosis. Cartoonists, artists, illustrators, and animators have donated original artwork for this auction, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation to support Parkinson¹s research. The artwork is also collected in a book, Team Cul de Sac: Cartoonists Draw the Line at Parkinson's (Andrews McMeel Publishing), to be published June 5, 2012. A portion of the proceeds from the book will also be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. About Team Cul de Sac
