Description:
Dick Ayers and John Severin Incredible Hulk #144 Page 5 Original Art (Marvel, 1971). Although perhaps better known at Marvel for illustrating the WWII adventures of Sgt. Fury, veteran artists Dick Ayers and John Severin never hesitated to illustrate superheroics when called upon. John Severin's inks add realism, weight, and texture to Dick Ayers' dramatic composition. What a team supreme! This page has an image area of 10" x 15", and aside from closely trimmed margins, and a few touches of white-out, the art is in Very Good condition.

Ayers, Dick :Dick Ayers (American, b.1924): is lauded as a mainstay of the Marvel Age of Heroes that began at the dawn of the Silver Age. Fast, reliable, and gifted, Ayers' inking touch can be found on virtually every key Marvel superhero character, including the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, the Human Torch, Giant-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and others. At the insistence of Marvel editor Stan Lee, inker Dick Ayers was often teamed with penciler Jack Kirby, and their work together served as the template for the Marvel house style. Ayers is also celebrated for his own dynamic brand of penciling, especially in the mystery, war, and Western genres. Among his most fondly remembered stories are those showcasing the Ghost Rider, Rawhide Kid, the Two-Gun Kid, El Diablo, Jonah Hex, Sgt. Fury, the Unknown Soldier, and the Haunted Tank. Over the decades, Ayers has worked for many comic book publishers, including ME, Atlas/Marvel, DC, Charlton, Tower, and Warren. He has recounted his remarkable life and career in his autobiographical graphic novel, The Dick Ayers Story.
